The Executive Chairman of Ado Local Government Area, Engr. Sunny Oche, has strongly condemned the recent kidnapping incidents within the Local Government, particularly the shocking abduction of worshippers at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Ojije community during a night vigil. He describes the attack as barbaric, unacceptable, and a grave violation of the sanctity of human life and places of worship.
The Chairman notes with deep pain that only weeks earlier, other residents were taken in similar late-night attacks, creating fear across Utonkon and surrounding communities. He stresses that the targeting of innocent citizens, especially worshippers, marks a disturbing escalation that government will confront with full seriousness.
Engr. Oche assures residents that urgent security measures are already being implemented in collaboration with the Benue State Government and security agencies. These include intensified security patrols in vulnerable areas, expanded intelligence operations, coordinated engagement with community leaders, and strengthened support for local vigilante structures to prevent further occurrences.
He calls on residents to remain calm but vigilant, and to cooperate fully with security operatives by reporting suspicious movements promptly. According to the Chairman, community participation is critical in defeating criminal elements.
The Executive Chairman reassures the people of Ado that his administration remains unwavering in its commitment to protecting lives and property. He emphasizes that no effort will be spared in restoring confidence, preserving peace, and ensuring that Ado Local Government remains safe for families, worshippers, traders, and visitors alike.
Engr. Oche expresses solidarity with affected families and the entire Ufia community, affirming that government shares in their pain and will continue to act decisively until security is fully restored.
