Nigeria has expressed readiness to support global oil supply as rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East continue to disrupt energy markets.

The Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, said the country is prepared to play a stabilising role in ensuring energy security amid growing uncertainty in key oil-producing regions.

Tensions involving countries such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Iraq have led to disruptions in production and supply chains, triggering a surge in global oil prices.

According to Idris, Nigeria remains committed to contributing to global stability by leveraging its oil production capacity.

“The world needs oil, and Nigeria is there,” he said, emphasising the country’s willingness to assist in easing supply pressures.

The minister also highlighted the importance of international engagements led by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that they are strengthening diplomatic and economic ties.

He pointed to Nigeria’s relationship with the United Kingdom as a key example of longstanding cooperation built on shared history and mutual interests.

Idris further stated that ongoing economic reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration are improving Nigeria’s global perception and economic outlook.

“With the reforms that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has instituted, we have seen a significant uplift in the economy,” he said.

Addressing security concerns, the minister defended the efforts of Nigerian security agencies, noting that while challenges remain, progress has been made in improving stability in affected regions.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening security, sustaining economic reforms, and positioning Nigeria as a reliable partner in the global energy market.
