A late-night fire outbreak has destroyed several shops at the Aluminium Village in Dopemu, Agege area of Lagos State, with a separate incident also reported at Tejuosho Market in Yaba in the early hours of Saturday.
According to a report by Vanguard, the first fire occurred around midnight at the busy Aluminium Village, where traders deal largely in metal and construction materials. The blaze reportedly engulfed multiple shops, destroying goods and property before emergency responders arrived at the scene.
Officials of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service were said to have intervened promptly, working to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to adjoining structures. While the extent of damage is still being assessed, no casualties were confirmed at the time of reporting.
In a related development, another fire incident was reported at Tejuosho Market in the Yaba area at about 3:15 a.m. Emergency responders were again deployed to the scene to bring the situation under control.
Authorities have yet to determine the causes of the two incidents, and no official statement has been issued regarding possible links between them. Traders and residents in the affected areas have begun assessing losses as investigations are expected to commence.
Fire outbreaks in major commercial hubs remain a recurring concern in Lagos, often resulting in significant economic losses for small-scale traders and business owners.
