Manchester United is gearing up for a summer move to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli, with plans already in motion to raise the necessary funds for his €75 million release clause.
Reports suggest the Red Devils will part ways with several first-team players, including Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Højlund, to generate the funds required for the transfer. United has already spent heavily on strikers in recent seasons, including £36.5m on Joshua Zirkzee and £64m for Højlund, but neither has propelled the club back into the Premier League’s top-four.
Osimhen, who has been on United’s radar for a while, saw a move to the Premier League fall through last summer, with Chelsea initially leading the race. This time around, Manchester United faces stiff competition, with Arsenal also reportedly interested in the 2023 African Player of the Year.
With Osimhen’s current contract running until 2026, Napoli is unlikely to accept anything less than his full release clause, setting the stage for an intense battle for the prolific striker’s signature.
