Brigadier-General Braimoh Killed as Boko Haram/ISWAP Fighters Attack Military Base in Borno State

Brigadier-General Braimoh of the Nigerian Army was killed on Wednesday night following a coordinated attack by suspected Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters on a military base in Borno State, Sahara Reporters has confirmed.

The assault reportedly targeted a base under Operation Hadin Kai, the military campaign tasked with counterinsurgency operations in Nigeria’s North-East. The attackers launched a night raid, engaging troops in a fierce confrontation that resulted in multiple cacasualties.

According to Military sources, Brigadier-General Braimoh was among those killed during the attack, alongside several other soldiers. The incident was described as a heavy offensive, reflecting the intensity of the clash between insurgents and the stationed troops.

In a follow-up report, it was stated that Brigadier-General Braimoh attempted to escape the attack using an armoured vehicle. The effort was unsuccessful, and he was reportedly killed in the process.

The Nigerian military has not yet released an official statement detailing the full extent of casualties or the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Borno State has remained a major hotspot in Nigeria’s ongoing insurgency, with armed groups such as Boko Haram and ISWAP frequently targeting military formations, civilian communities, and infrastructure.
