Six men accused of involvement in an alleged coup plot are expected to appear before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday.
The suspects are scheduled for arraignment before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik at noon, according to information from the Attorney-General’s office.
The case follows charges filed by the Federal Government over an alleged plan to destabilise the country and remove President Bola Tinubu from office.
Those listed in the charge include retired Major General Mohammed Ibrahim Gana, retired Naval Captain Erasmus Victor, Inspector Ahmed Ibrahim, Zekeri Umoru, Bukar Goni and Abdulkadir Sani.
Prosecutors alleged that the defendants conspired in 2025 to wage war against the Nigerian state and unlawfully change the government.
Authorities said the offence falls under laws covering treason and related crimes.
The charge sheet also contains allegations linked to terrorism financing and failure to disclose knowledge of a planned security threat.
According to prosecutors, the accused persons allegedly knew of a separate treasonable scheme involving other individuals but failed to alert security agencies.
Investigators also claimed some funds connected to the case passed through personal bank accounts and cash transactions.
Several of the defendants were accused of receiving or retaining money suspected to be linked to unlawful activities.
The sums mentioned in the case run into tens of millions of naira.
A former Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva, was also named in connection with the matter, though authorities said he remains at large.
No conviction has been recorded, and all allegations are yet to be tested in court.
The arraignment is expected to mark the formal beginning of criminal proceedings, where charges will be read and the defendants asked to enter their pleas.
The case has already drawn national attention because of the seriousness of the accusations, including treason and terrorism financing.
Legal observers expect the court session to focus on bail requests, procedural issues and the next hearing date after the pleas are taken.
