House of Representatives Provides Update on 31 State Creation Requests

The House of Representatives has provided an update on the 31 state creation requests currently before the National Assembly. According to the Committee, the 31 requests for new states are from various parts of the country, with some of the proposed states including:

Oduduwa State: Proposed to be carved out of the present Osun and Ogun states

Kogi West State: Proposed to be carved out of the present Kogi State

Ijebu State: Proposed to be carved out of the present Ogun State

Anioma State: Proposed to be carved out of the present Delta State

The Committee emphasized that the creation of new states is a complex process that requires careful consideration of various factors, including economic viability, geographical contiguity, and cultural homogeneity.
