Liverpool manager Arne Slot believes Mohamed Salah’s chances of winning the prestigious Ballon d’Or will skyrocket if the Reds secure silverware this season.

The Egyptian forward has been in electrifying form, netting 30 goals and providing 21 assists across all competitions. However, Slot insists that individual brilliance alone won’t be enough to claim football’s highest individual honor.

“It’s great that Mo is in the discussion; it means he’s performing well and so are we,” Slot said. “But historically, Ballon d’Or winners have also won major trophies. That’s the challenge ahead for both him and the team.”

Liverpool currently lead the Premier League by 11 points and are also in contention for the League Cup and Champions League. Slot remains confident that his players understand the challenge ahead and won’t let complacency creep in.

When asked if Salah’s current form could be compared to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi at their peak, Slot avoided making direct comparisons but acknowledged Salah’s consistent excellence.

Salah’s future at Anfield remains a talking point, with his contract expiring at the end of the season. While his stunning performances could make him more expensive to retain, Slot emphasized that keeping him at this level is best for both club and player.

Liverpool fans will be hoping that their star forward’s brilliance translates into silverware—both for the team and for Salah’s individual accolades.
