Air Peace has strongly denied reports that its Chairman, Allen Onyema, was left stranded for 24 hours at the Ekiti State Agro Allied International Cargo Airport due to the absence of navigational aids.

In a statement released by the airline’s Head of Corporate Communications, Dr. Ejike Ndiulo, the claims were dismissed as false, misleading, and an attempt to misrepresent facts.

According to Ndiulo, Onyema had traveled to Ekiti on Saturday to receive an award from the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE). However, his return flight was affected by poor weather conditions, forcing the scheduled aircraft to be rerouted back to Lagos—a standard safety procedure in aviation.

Dismissing the reports suggesting Onyema’s pilot took a risky maneuver to leave the airport, Ndiulo emphasized that Air Peace would never compromise safety.

“The claim that our pilot engaged in unsafe operations is entirely fabricated and irresponsible,” he stated. “Air Peace adheres to the highest international safety standards, and this situation was a routine weather-related diversion, not an airport failure.”

Ndiulo further criticized what he called “reckless journalism” for spreading misinformation, urging the public to rely on verified facts rather than sensationalized reports.

Air Peace reaffirmed its commitment to passenger safety, emphasizing that it remains a top priority in all its operations.
