Amid a lively celebration with drummers and enthusiastic supporters, frontline governorship aspirant Prof. Obiora Okonkwo submitted his APC nomination forms on Tuesday, officially solidifying his bid for the Anambra 2025 election.

Okonkwo, who arrived at the APC national headquarters in Abuja at exactly 1:24 PM, was greeted by thousands of cheering supporters, turning Blantyre Street into a festival of banners, music, and chants in his honor. The overwhelming show of support momentarily halted vehicular and pedestrian movement as his campaign team took over the APC secretariat in a display of unity and strength.

We Will Take Anambra and the South East for APC

Speaking to journalists after submitting his forms, Okonkwo expressed unwavering confidence in his ability to not only secure the APC ticket on April 5 but also emerge victorious in the November 8 governorship election.

“By the grace of God, we will win the APC primary, and we will win the governorship election. Anambra deserves a new lease of life, and we are here to make it happen.”

He dismissed the idea of an incumbent advantage, insisting that the people of Anambra are ready for change.

“The earthquake that will remove this rudderless government is coming. We will win Anambra for APC and bring the entire South East into the APC fold.”

APC is My Political Home – We Are Set to Win

Highlighting his political history, Okonkwo described his return to APC as a “homecoming,” recalling his instrumental role in helping AC and ACN—the party’s predecessors—win elections in Anambra Central.

“I am the only aspirant from Anambra Central, a zone where APC’s foundation was laid. With God on our side, we have the advantage. The people are ready for the right leadership, and we are here to provide it.”

Anambra Deserves Better Than Soludo’s Failed Promises

Taking a swipe at Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Okonkwo accused him of failing to deliver on his grand promises to turn Anambra into the “Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Japan of Africa.”

“Instead of progress, we have gotten pain, sorrow, and agony. Why did it take him this long to act on insecurity? It’s medicine after many deaths, and the spirits of those who lost their lives won’t forgive us if we allow him a second term.”

Rejecting Alleged APC-APGA Deal for 2027

Dismissing speculation that the presidency struck a deal with Soludo to deliver 25% of Anambra’s votes to President Bola Tinubu in 2027, Okonkwo insisted that the APC must aim for total victory.

“Why should we settle for 25% when we can win Anambra outright? The people of Anambra will not fall for this APGA gimmick anymore. Our President is a true party man, and we know he will not sabotage the APC’s future in the state.”

With the race officially on, Okonkwo’s campaign has set the tone for what promises to be a fierce battle for the soul of Anambra State.
