Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian Senate to launch a thorough, transparent investigation into the sexual harassment and intimidation allegations made by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi Central) against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

In a statement on Friday, Atiku described the claims as serious and alarming, insisting they must not be ignored.

The Senate must uphold the highest standards of integrity and ensure that its leadership is beyond reproach, he stated.

He stressed that women in leadership must be protected from workplace harassment, especially given that only four women currently serve in the Senate.

Atiku called on Tinubu and Senate leadership to ensure an impartial probe, warning that how this case is handled will reflect Nigeria’s stance on justice, accountability, and gender equality.

Senator Natasha had earlier accused Akpabio of intimidation and harassment after allegedly rejecting his advances. The claims have sparked nationwide outrage, with growing demands for a formal inquiry.
