Lagos residents have been battling persistent power outages, and the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has finally shed light on the cause—faulty 330kV transmission lines disrupting supply to the region.
In a statement on Monday, EKEDC explained that reduced power allocation from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has forced the company to implement load-shedding across its network.

EKEDC confirmed that faults on TCN’s transmission lines have significantly affected power distribution, leading to widespread blackouts in many parts of Lagos.
“This is to kindly update you that we are still experiencing reduced power allocation from our TCN partners due to faults on the 330kV lines feeding the Lagos region,” the company stated.
When Will Power Be Restored?
While EKEDC assured customers that efforts are underway to resolve the issue in collaboration with TCN and other stakeholders, they did not provide a definitive timeline for full restoration.
