Breaking News: Police Bust Kidnappers and Armed Robbers in Kano – 10 Suspects Arrested in Major Crackdown

In a major breakthrough, the Kano State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects involved in high-profile criminal activities, including kidnapping and armed robbery. The arrests were made following a series of successful operations in various parts of the state.

Five individuals, including two women, were apprehended in connection with a kidnapping that took place in the Gabasswa Local Government Area. The victim, 21-year-old Muhammad Bello, was abducted on March 8, 2025, with the kidnappers demanding a staggering ransom of fifteen million naira for his release. Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, led by CSP Bala Shuaibu, tracked down and arrested the suspects between March 11 and March 18, 2025.

The arrested suspects include Tukur Lawal (20), Ado Usman (30), Sunusi Surajo (27), Ummulkhairi Ibrahim (19), and Habiba Shuaibu (18). The police rescued the victim on March 17, 2025, and successfully recovered a Dane gun and a ransom sum of N4.85 million from the criminals.

In a related operation, the police also arrested five suspected armed robbers from different parts of Kano, including Badawa Layout, Kadawa Mil-Tara Quarters, and Zango Quarters. Two of the armed robbers were nabbed on March 18 in Badawa Layout, while another was arrested in Kadawa Mil-Tara Quarters on the same day.

All the suspects are currently under investigation at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department. Once the investigations are completed, they will be charged in court.

The Kano State Commissioner of Police has praised the officers involved in these operations, reaffirming the commitment of the Police Command to ensure the safety and security of residents across the state.
