In a dramatic turn of events, the Nasarawa State Police Command has successfully rescued two students of the Federal University of Lafia who were kidnapped on Sunday, March 30. The swift and courageous operation unfolded after a distress call was received at 9:20 pm, reporting an attack on a student lodge in Lafia, where the students were abducted.

According to Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Ramhan Nansel, the command acted quickly, mobilizing the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and ‘A’ Division operatives under the directive of the State’s Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro-Mohammed. The police immediately launched a manhunt to track down the abductors.

Through technical intelligence, the rescue team located the victims, Sadiq Adinoyi and Sakina Adinoyi, in a dense forest behind the 500 housing unit along Doma Road. In a tense gunfight with the kidnappers, the police outgunned the criminals, who fled in different directions, leaving the victims behind. Fortunately, the students were safely rescued from the perilous situation.

In the aftermath, one suspect, Ibrahim Musa, a resident of Abuni village in Awe Local Government Area, was apprehended at the scene. Musa has since confessed to his involvement and is currently aiding police investigations.

The successful operation has been hailed as a major victory for the Nasarawa State Police, with SP Nansel commending the relentless efforts of the anti-kidnapping unit. He reiterated the command’s unwavering commitment to fighting crime in the region and assured the public that the police would continue working tirelessly to eliminate criminal activities across the state.

This daring rescue operation underscores the police’s determination to protect citizens and ensure safety in Nasarawa, sending a clear message to criminals that such actions will not go unpunished.
