The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has confirmed that the political leadership of Edo and Kano states have resolved tensions following the recent killings in Uromi.

Major General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, assured that both states have taken steps to address the crisis. “The political leadership of Edo visited Kano and met with the families of the victims. At the political level, everything has been resolved. Anyone attempting to incite further unrest will be investigated,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the military has dismissed claims that it is losing the fight against violent herdsmen, following attacks in the FCT, Enugu, Benue, Ondo, Zamfara, and Cross River states. Kangye emphasized that troops remain relentless, actively eliminating terrorists and their leaders.

He also addressed reports suggesting that Niger Republic has withdrawn from the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), calling them speculative. “MNJTF was created to tackle cross-border terrorism, and any withdrawal would disrupt regional security efforts. It’s crucial to maintain synergy among Lake Chad Basin nations,” he said.
