In a significant boost for nursing students in Oyo State, 75 students at the Oyo State College of Nursing Sciences, Eleyele, have successfully benefited from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). This development was confirmed by the college’s provost, Gbonjubola Owolabi, during a meeting with the management staff on Friday at the college’s premises in Eleyele, Ibadan.

The provost shared that out of the 78 students who applied, 75 were granted loans, significantly easing the financial burdens that often hindered their education. In a statement released by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, Owolabi expressed deep gratitude for the NELFUND initiative, which she described as a lifeline for students facing financial difficulties.

“This support from NELFUND will help ensure that our students can continue their education without the heavy weight of financial constraints,” Owolabi said, highlighting the importance of such initiatives in promoting educational accessibility. She added that the college would soon invite the beneficiaries for a meeting to finalize necessary documentation for students who applied for the 2025/2026 session.

Remarkably, NELFUND has already covered the full tuition fees for about 96% of the students who applied, further underscoring the program’s impact on making education more accessible to deserving students.

Owolabi urged other students who are in need of financial assistance to take advantage of the NELFUND loan, encouraging them to apply and benefit from this valuable resource that can help them complete their education and achieve their career goals.

This initiative marks a significant step in addressing the financial barriers to education, providing a crucial opportunity for students at Oyo State College of Nursing Sciences to pursue their nursing degrees with less financial stress.
