Kylian Mbappe, Antonio Rudiger, and Dani Ceballos have landed in hot water with UEFA after their fiery celebrations in Real Madrid’s dramatic Champions League victory over Atletico Madrid.

On Friday, UEFA announced fines for the trio, citing a violation of “basic rules of decent conduct” during Madrid’s tense last-16 second-leg win.

Mbappe was hit with a €30,000 ($33,000) fine, while Rudiger received the heaviest penalty at €40,000, and Ceballos was fined €20,000. Additionally, both Mbappe and Rudiger were handed suspended one-match bans in European competitions—meaning they’ll be available for Madrid’s Champions League quarter-final clash with Arsenal next Tuesday.

UEFA didn’t go into specifics about their offense but cited Article 11 of its disciplinary code, which mandates “decent conduct” from players.

The incident in question occurred on March 12 at Atletico’s Metropolitano Stadium, where Real Madrid sealed their place in the quarter-finals after a nerve-wracking penalty shootout. Reports suggest Madrid players provoked Atletico fans during their post-match celebrations, fueling tensions between the rival clubs.

Interestingly, Vinicius Jr., who was also under investigation, escaped punishment.

With a massive Champions League showdown against Arsenal on the horizon, Madrid will be hoping to keep their focus on the pitch—but UEFA’s warning serves as a reminder that celebrations can have consequences.
