In a daring and intense operation, Anambra Joint Security Forces have successfully dislodged a notorious gunmen camp in Ogbunka, Orumba South local government area, after a six-hour gun battle. The team, comprising the Police, Army from the 302 Artillery Regiment, the Navy from Naval Command Ogbaru, Department of State Services (DSS), and Anambra State Vigilante, acted on intelligence gathered over time.

The fierce standoff saw the operatives overpowering the criminals, who had set up explosive shields around the camp. With superior firepower, the security team neutralized the threat, confiscating materials such as foodstuffs, pots, and parts of dismembered suspected stolen vehicles.

State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, assured that this operation is a part of ongoing efforts to make Anambra an unsafe place for criminals. He confirmed that while some of the assailants escaped with gunshot wounds, their camp was completely dismantled, and the area secured.

Ikenga emphasized that the confidence the residents of Anambra have placed in the security agencies will not be taken for granted, and the authorities remain committed to safeguarding lives and property in the state.
