Drama as Liz Anjorin Blasts Gospel Singer Tope Alabi for Rejecting ₦4M Birthday Performance Over Personal Grudge

Nollywood actress Liz Anjorin has publicly called out popular gospel singer Tope Alabi for allegedly refusing to perform at her surprise birthday party, despite being fully paid a whopping ₦4 million for the appearance.

According to reports gathered, Alabi was booked by Anjorin’s fans based in the diaspora, who wanted to gift the actress a memorable surprise by securing the star-studded gospel performance. However, chaos ensued when Tope Alabi, upon arrival at the venue and learning that the event was for Liz Anjorin, refused to step out of her car, citing personal reasons.

The singer reportedly left the venue without performing and later returned the payment.

The situation took a heated turn when Liz Anjorin, clearly livid, addressed the matter in a viral video on Saturday. She slammed Alabi for unprofessional conduct, stating that being a brand does not justify snubbing paid gigs based on personal feelings.

“Aunty Tope, my fans paid you ₦4 million, and I have proof. Even if you were paid ₦500k, were you not once an actress? In acting, you’re trained to even kiss your enemy if the script requires it,” Anjorin said, referencing Alabi’s earlier involvement in Nollywood.

In a scathing remark, Anjorin continued:

“You’re a brand your husband built with an empty stomach.”

The actress also emphasized that she had no idea about her fans’ plan to invite a gospel artist, noting her surprise at the booking, especially since she is a Muslim.

“I didn’t expect a gospel singer at my birthday; I thought they’d invite an Islamic performer,” she added.

Despite the refund, the incident has stirred major buzz online, sparking debates about professionalism, religious differences, and personal bias in the entertainment industry. Fans are divided, with some defending Alabi’s right to decline performances on moral or spiritual grounds, while others accuse her of disrespect and unprofessional behavior.
