Tennis icon Venus Williams is proving that age is just a number as she makes a stunning return to the court next month at the Indian Wells Masters. At 44, the seven-time Grand Slam champion has accepted a wildcard entry, marking her first tournament appearance since March 2024, when she bowed out in the first round of the Miami Open.

Currently ranked No. 974 in the world, Venus has faced challenges in recent matches, with her last victory dating back to August 2023. However, the former world No. 1 is not ready to walk away from the sport she has dominated for decades.

Indian Wells holds a complicated history for Venus and her sister Serena, dating back to the infamous 2001 semi-final controversy that led to a 15-year boycott. The sisters endured accusations, racial hostility, and crowd jeers, but Venus made her triumphant return to the tournament in 2016.

Despite speculation about retirement, Venus made it clear last October that she wasn’t done yet, stating, “I’m not done with the racquet yet. At this point, it’s about picking and choosing the places I want to be.”

Now, the tennis world eagerly watches as one of the sport’s greatest competitors steps back onto the court, ready to write another chapter in her legendary career.
