Shakira’s highly anticipated concert in Medellín has been canceled due to safety concerns, leaving fans disappointed but understanding of the decision.
The global superstar, currently on her first world tour in seven years, was set to perform at the Atanasio Girardot Stadium on February 24. However, organizers revealed that damage to the stage roof—caused during setup—posed a serious risk to the artist’s safety.
“During the process of setting up the show, the stage roof installed by a local production company suffered damage that put the artist’s safety at risk,” event organizer Paramo Presenta confirmed on social media.
Despite the setback, hopes remain high that the concert will be rescheduled. The news comes after Shakira had to cancel a show in Peru last week due to an abdominal condition that briefly hospitalized her.
The “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” tour, named after her latest album, launched in Rio de Janeiro and will take her across Latin America before heading to the U.S. and Canada. Shakira recently received a warm homecoming in Barranquilla, where thousands of fans welcomed her at the Metropolitano Stadium.
With more than 90 million records sold worldwide, the four-time Grammy winner continues to prove her global influence. Meanwhile, fans in Colombia still have a chance to see her live, as she is scheduled for back-to-back shows in Bogotá later this week.
