The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State is preparing for a massive political shake-up as over 80,000 opposition members are set to defect to the ruling party.

Chief Benjamin Omale, Chairman of the APC Unity Caretaker Committee in the state, confirmed the development over the weekend, stating that plans were already in motion to receive the new members formally.

Omale described the wave of defections as a direct endorsement of Governor Hyacinth Alia’s leadership, citing his strides in governance, infrastructure, and policy direction.

“This is a clear sign that the people of Benue have confidence in Governor Alia’s administration,” Omale said. “Despite attempts to destabilize his government, the people have remained resolute in their support.”

He further highlighted the growing strength of the APC in Benue, attributing it to the governor’s commitment to good governance and the party’s alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s national agenda.

“As the APC continues to solidify its presence in Benue, we urge party members and all well-meaning citizens to remain steadfast in their support for the government. We must stay united in our mission to transform the state,” Omale added.

He also commended the Benue State House of Assembly for taking a bold stance on judicial integrity and lauded the APC Elders Forum, led by Senator Barnabas Gemade, for their unwavering support.

With the expected influx of defectors, the political landscape in Benue is set for a major shift, positioning the APC as a dominant force ahead of future elections.
