Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have rescued an eight-year-old boy kidnapped during a terrorist attack in Borno State as military operations intensify across Nigeria’s North-East.

The Nigerian military said the child was rescued during coordinated offensives carried out under Operation Desert Sanity and other security missions targeting Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters.

According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, troops recorded several operational successes, including the killing of terrorists, rescue of abducted victims, and recovery of weapons and explosives.

The rescued boy was abducted during the March 3, 2026, attack on the Ngoshe community.

Military authorities said troops, supported by members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, launched operations in Valle, Ashigashiya, and Gakara communities where they engaged terrorists in a gun battle.

During the operation, two insurgents were killed while others reportedly fled toward the Ngoshe area.

Troops also intercepted suspected terrorists along the Bravo Kilo 10 axis and neutralised another fighter during the encounter.

Recovered items included a radio communication device and a mobile phone.

The military confirmed that no casualties were recorded among security personnel during the operations.

The rescued child was later medically examined and reunited with his family.

In another operation along the Gwoza-Limankara corridor, troops rescued a 20-year-old abducted Fulani man identified as Dahiru Ahamdu.

The victim said he escaped after heavy artillery bombardments targeted terrorist camps in the Mandara Mountains.

According to him, he was kidnapped on May 8, 2026, while grazing cattle in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

Military authorities said the victim had also been reunited with his family after receiving medical attention.

Meanwhile, troops deployed in Buni Gari recovered several explosives abandoned by fleeing terrorists in the Magza area.

Recovered items included rocket-propelled grenade bombs and mortar bombs, which were later secured by Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams.

The military also confirmed the arrest of a suspected terrorist collaborator identified as Kuti Muhammad, who allegedly belongs to the Civilian Joint Task Force.

Security operatives said investigations were ongoing.

In a separate operation in Biu Local Government Area, troops arrested three suspected armed robbers linked to criminal activities in Garin Gwigwi village.

Additionally, troops working alongside local hunters arrested four suspected cattle rustlers and terrorist collaborators at Kwaya Kusar Market.

The suspects were reportedly found with six stolen cattle and are currently under investigation.

The military said troops across operational areas in the North-East remain on high alert to prevent terrorists and criminal groups from regrouping.

Operation Hadin Kai reaffirmed its commitment to restoring peace, improving security, and supporting stability across the North-East region.
