A 200-level student of the Department of Political Science at Moses Orshio Adasu University (MOAU), Makurdi, Benue State, has reportedly sustained serious injuries after she was allegedly assaulted by her cousin and roommate, a 500-level student of the Department of Chemistry.
The alleged incident has sparked calls for urgent investigation and justice, with concerned parties appealing to the university authorities and relevant stakeholders to intervene in the matter.
Alleged Assault Follows Disagreement Between Roommates
The allegation was contained in an urgent appeal for justice dated August 28, 2026, and addressed to several university and student leadership authorities.
Those addressed in the appeal include the Vice-Chancellor of Moses Orshio Adasu University, the Dean of Students Affairs, the Chief Security Officer, the President of the National Association of Idoma Students (NAIS), the National President of Idoma Students Worldwide, and the Benue State Ministry of Education.
According to the complaint, the two students, who are reportedly cousins and roommates, had a disagreement before the alleged assault occurred.
The senior student was accused of allegedly pouring hot water mixed with pepper on the 200-level Political Science student during the incident.
Victim Reportedly Sustained Severe Injuries
The alleged attack reportedly left the younger student with serious injuries.
According to the appeal, the injuries were severe and the incident allegedly came close to costing the student her life.
