Condolence Message on the Passing of Chief Engr. Gilbert Ogbala Udonu Olong

On behalf of the Ado Local Government Council, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family of Chief Engr. Gilbert Ogbala Udonu Olong, his friends and associates, the Catholic community, and the entire Bhreleke Community of Royongo Ward, Utonkon, on the painful loss of a distinguished son, professional, community leader and man of goodwill.

The news of Chief Engr. Olong’s passing on 21 August 2026 came as a rude shock to us, particularly at a time when his wealth of experience, exposure and wisdom would have been valuable to the service of Ado Local Government and Benue State at large. His distinguished professional career with Chevron Oil Company, from which he retired, reflected a high level of competence, discipline and adherence to professional standards. His experience and exposure could have continued to make valuable contributions to public service, institutional development and community advancement.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Chief Engr. Olong was known for his calm, thoughtful and measured disposition. He carried himself with composure and dignity, earning the respect of those who encountered him. As a devoted Catholic and faithful son of the Church, he demonstrated a deep commitment to his faith, the Church and the wellbeing of others. His contributions to his community and society will remain cherished by those whose lives he touched.

His passing is therefore a significant loss to his immediate family, the Bhreleke Community of Royongo Ward, Utonkon, Ado Local Government and Benue State. At a time when the knowledge and experience of accomplished citizens are needed to strengthen our institutions and advance our communities, his departure leaves a void that will be deeply felt.

We are, however, consoled by the quality of life he lived and the legacy he leaves behind. His benevolence, good character, professional excellence and service to humanity will continue to speak for him and remain a source of inspiration to those he left behind.

To the bereaved family, I urge you to take solace in the knowledge that your beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and community leader lived a meaningful life and left behind a legacy worthy of remembrance. While his physical presence will be greatly missed, the values he upheld and the positive impact he made will endure.

On behalf of the Ado Local Government Council and the people of Ado Local Government, I pray that Almighty God grants his soul eternal rest and gives the family the strength, courage and fortitude to bear this painful and irreparable loss. May God comfort and sustain the family during this difficult period and grant them the grace to preserve the noble legacy he has left behind.

Chief Engr. Gilbert Ogbala Udonu Olong may have departed this earthly life, but the footprints of his professional excellence, calm disposition, Christian faith, generosity and service to humanity will continue to speak for him.
