Leicester City End Eight-Game Losing Streak with Draw Against Brighton

Leicester City halted their eight-game losing streak in dramatic fashion as they earned a crucial 2-2 draw against Brighton and Hove Albion, who now face a setback in their push for European qualification.
The Foxes, struggling at the bottom of the Premier League, saw Caleb Okoli score a vital equaliser. Okoli, replacing the injured Wout Faes, powered a diving header past Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen from a Bilal El Khannouss free-kick to snatch a rare point for Leicester.
The match marked Leicester’s first league goal since January 26. Stephy Mavididi was the man to break their 885-minute goal drought, capitalising on a defensive error by Lewis Dunk to level the score in the first half, after Joao Pedro’s penalty had initially given Brighton the lead. Pedro converted from the spot after Conor Coady handled the ball in the box, just before Mavididi struck.
Brighton continued to dominate early in the second half, with Pedro again converting a penalty after Leicester’s Luke Thomas was adjudged to have pulled O’Riley’s shirt in the box. But Leicester remained resilient, with Patson Daka’s effort denied by Verbruggen before Okoli’s header salvaged the point.
In a final twist, Leicester came close to a winner, only for El Khannouss’ curling effort to be thwarted by the post.
The result leaves Leicester second from bottom in the league, still 14 points adrift of safety with six games to go, while Brighton’s hopes of qualifying for Europe are dealt a blow as they remain in ninth place, seven points behind the top four.
