Along with the iconic green jacket, McIlroy also earned a sizable payday, as the Masters tournament increased its prize fund to $21 million for 2025. The winner’s share of the purse? A cool $4.2 million—adding to the achievement of completing one of golf’s most prestigious career milestones.

In contrast, last year’s Masters winner, Scottie Scheffler, walked away with $3.6 million.

Reflecting on his victory, McIlroy was candid about his emotions. “There were points in my career where I didn’t know if I would have this nice garment over my shoulders,” he said after the tournament. “But I didn’t make it easy today. I certainly didn’t make it easy. I was nervous. It was one of the toughest days I’ve ever had on the golf course.”
