Daytona 500 Highlights: Byron’s Big Win, Shocking Crashes, and Heart-Stopping Moments!
William Byron has done it again! The 25-year-old driver pulled off a legendary victory in the Daytona 500, becoming the youngest to win multiple titles in the Great American Race. After a chaotic final lap and a pile-up among the leaders, Byron surged from 9th to 1st, clinching his second consecutive Daytona 500 win! He’s only the 5th driver ever to achieve that feat. Talk about a comeback kid!
Meanwhile, Hendrick Motorsports continues to reign supreme with this victory marking their 10th Daytona 500 win—the most in NASCAR history! No other team has this many titles.
A special shoutout to Tyler Reddick, who flipped the script this year with a career-best 2nd place finish. After years of struggling at Daytona, he finally came through with a strong performance.
And don’t sleep on Jimmie Johnson, who came through with a third-place finish, his best result in Daytona since his 2013 win. Legacy Motor Club is also celebrating big-time with both Jimmie Johnson and Erik Jones finishing in the top five, a huge improvement for the team!
Let’s not forget the underdogs! JR Motorsports made a splash in their first-ever Cup Series race with Justin Allgaier securing a ninth-place finish. What a debut!
But, it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows…
Ryan Preece once again went airborne in a terrifying crash—for the second year in a row! But thankfully, he walked away unscathed after a truly scary moment. He ended up finishing 32nd, but he’s just happy to be alive.
Joey Logano, who led 43 laps and even won the first stage, had his race derailed after a massive multi-car crash triggered by a move from Ricky Stenhouse Jr. He finished a disappointing 35th.
And Kyle Busch? Sadly, his Daytona 500 streak continues with zero wins. After getting caught in the same wreck as Logano and Stenhouse, Busch extended his record of 20 winless Daytona 500s. Tough luck!
It was a race full of adrenaline, surprises, and drama, and the only thing we know for sure? Next year’s Daytona 500 can’t come soon enough!
