Nigeria’s political scene is always shifting, like desert sands. Promises come and go, but former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has made a bold one that stands out. Now with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), he pledges faithful service to every Nigerian if he wins the 2027 presidency.

This isn’t empty talk. Atiku has served the country for decades — from a customs officer to Nigeria’s number two under President Olusegun Obasanjo. At 78, he has fought tough elections before, consistently showing his faith in democracy and positive change.

His recent words feel personal, like advice from a family elder. “The interest of Nigerians will always occupy the topmost place in my administration,” he said. He envisions equity, progress, and governance that includes everyone, regardless of background.

Atiku is reaching out especially to the South-West region, whose votes could be decisive in 2027. He addresses fears of ethnic favoritism directly, confronting concerns about Hausa-Fulani dominance in past governments.

To connect, he shares his own story. He has been married to Titi, a Yoruba woman from Ijesha, since the 1970s. They have four children and are still together today — she’s now over 75. “My Ijesha-born Yoruba wife is more than a wife to me. Aptly put, she is my Jewel of Inestimable Value,” he said. He added that the Yoruba people are like a larger extended family and in-laws, whose needs would be a priority in his plans.

It’s not just kind words. Atiku praises the Yoruba for their education and intelligence and warns leaders not to underestimate them. His vision is a united Nigeria where no group is left out.

Picture this: a government that boosts the economy, fights insecurity, and funds schools and hospitals fairly. That is the service Atiku promises — steady, caring, and practical.

As 2027 approaches, his pledge reminds Nigerians what good leadership looks like. In a nation full of potential but facing serious challenges, experience combined with genuine care can light the way.

Whether he wins or not, Atiku challenges all leaders to match his sincerity. True service isn’t about holding power; it’s about raising everyone up. Nigerians deserve nothing less.
