Baba Ijesha’s updated sex offender register was confirmed by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency following his release from prison. Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju James, widely known as Baba Ijesha, has been placed on the official Lagos State sex offender register after serving his sentence for sexually assaulting a minor girl.
The actor, convicted in 2021 for assaulting a 14-year-old girl, was recently released. A circulating but unverified video appears to show him sitting inside a vehicle shortly after his release, looking relieved and saying he needed to rest.
His update on the sex offender register followed widespread misinformation claiming the Court of Appeal had exonerated him. The Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro, SAN, has dismissed the rumors as false and irresponsible, stressing that Baba Ijesha’s conviction remains valid and unchanged.

The agency noted that adding his name to the registry is part of ongoing efforts to protect minors, promote accountability and ensure accurate public information. Comedian Princess Damilola Adekoya had earlier called on the government to update the registry during an Instagram Live session on November 15, 2025.
