The Chairman of Ado Local Government Area, Engr. Sunny Oche, has warmly congratulated His Royal Majesty, the Och’idoma, Agaba-idu Dr. Elaigwu John Odogbo, on his appointment as Chancellor of the Federal University of Otuoke (FUO), Bayelsa State, describing the honour as a proud moment for Idomaland and Benue State at large.
In a congratulatory message, Engr. Oche said the appointment is a well-deserved recognition of the Och’idoma’s distinguished leadership, integrity, and lifelong commitment to service. He noted that the appointment, which was initially made in May 2023 by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, and subsequently affirmed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reflects national confidence in the revered monarch’s capacity to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of higher education in Nigeria.
According to the Ado LGA Chairman, the confirmation of His Royal Majesty as Chancellor is not only a personal honour but also a source of collective pride for the people of Idomaland, whose rich cultural heritage and values continue to find expression at the national level.
Engr. Oche used the occasion to call on sons and daughters of Idomaland, at home and in the diaspora, to remain united and to support ongoing efforts aimed at addressing the socioeconomic and security challenges confronting the land. He stressed the importance of stronger collaboration between government at all levels, traditional institutions, and community stakeholders, particularly in the collective fight against insecurity.
He further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the longstanding relationship between Ado Local Government Council and the Och’idoma, pledging continued cooperation and support for initiatives that promote peace, development, and social cohesion across the local government area.
The Chairman also expressed confidence that His Royal Majesty would leverage the prestigious position of Chancellor to further advance education, youth development, and national unity, while serving as a worthy ambassador of Benue State and the Idoma nation.
