A homemade bomb exploded at a restaurant in central Moscow on Saturday, killing three people and injuring 21 others, Russian authorities said.
The blast claimed the lives of two people as well as the woman suspected of carrying the explosive device, according to the state news agency RIA Novosti. The agency cited a statement from Russia’s National Anti-Terrorism Committee.
The incident occurred at a restaurant located in the centre of the Russian capital. Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances leading to the explosion or the identities of those killed and injured.
The National Anti-Terrorism Committee’s account, as reported by RIA Novosti, remains the primary official information available on the attack.
The explosion marks a serious security incident in the heart of Moscow and has prompted an ongoing investigation by Russian authorities.
