Keita Balde Diao has finally spoken out about his involvement in the scandal surrounding Mauro Icardi and Wanda Nara, admitting his mistakes while slamming the couple for making their drama public.
The controversy dates back to their time at Inter Milan, when Icardi accused Balde of having an affair with Wanda. Now, Balde has acknowledged his infidelity but insists that the way Icardi and Wanda have handled the situation is damaging.
“Betrayal is the word that hurts the most. I made the biggest mistake of my life, I betrayed the love of my life,” Balde admitted in a recent interview with Canale 5. “She deserves all the love and respect in the world. I take full responsibility because this is now affecting my family.”
Balde’s wife, Simona Guatieri, has also been dragged into the scandal. Although she had privately forgiven him, the renewed public attention has reopened old wounds.
“The way Mauro and Wanda are handling this shows they have no heart,” Balde continued. “I know I made a mistake, but they should think about the children involved. I will protect my family and take legal action if necessary.”
Guatieri also fired back at Icardi and Wanda, calling them out for turning private matters into a spectacle. “We have different values than they do. My husband made a mistake, but he kept it private. If I showed you the messages she sent him, you’d never stop talking about it. Icardi should focus on football instead of gossip.”
The Icardi-Wanda saga has been a long-running soap opera in football. Their relationship started in controversy when Wanda left Maxi Lopez—her husband at the time and Icardi’s former teammate—for Icardi, leading to one of football’s most infamous betrayals. Now, their latest breakup has escalated into a legal battle over domestic violence allegations, defamation, and a dispute over a luxury villa in Buenos Aires. Wanda has even claimed that the stress from their relationship contributed to her leukemia diagnosis.
While Icardi is currently playing for Galatasaray, Balde remains without a club but is training with Monza in hopes of making a Serie A comeback. As for Wanda and Icardi, their drama seems far from over.
