Midnight Raid: Troops Smash Bandit Fortress, Seize Deadly Arms in Katsina-Ala

Joint Task Force troops, as part of Operation Whirl Stroke, launched a decisive raid on a known bandit hideout in the Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of ​​Benue State, dismantling a feared criminal network and recovering a large cache of weapons and ammunition.

According to military sources, the operation was initiated following reliable intelligence regarding the movements of a wanted crime boss and his gang, who were reportedly hiding in the village of Mtan, Utange Council District. Acting swiftly on the intelligence, troops advanced to the location and engaged the armed group in a fierce firefight, forcing the suspects to flee their stronghold.

During the raid, security forces recovered significant items believed to belong to the gang, including two motorcycles, eight magazines, and numerous rounds of ammunition of various calibers, as well as NATO ammunition and spent cartridge cases. A red Toyota vehicle found at the scene was also impounded to prevent its use in criminal activity.

The Force Commander of Operation Whirl Stroke, Major General Moses Gara, commended the intelligence unit for providing valuable information that led to the mission’s success and praised the troops for their discipline and operational efficiency. He emphasized that timely intelligence and cooperation from local communities remain crucial in combating terrorism and banditry in the region.
