The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, has announced that the party’s presidential nomination form for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid has already been fully paid for by a group of youths from Kogi State.
Yilwatda made the disclosure on Monday at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, shortly after receiving a ₦100 million cheque from the Kogi youth delegation, led by Governor Ahmed Ododo. He said the payment effectively ends all ongoing fundraising efforts by individuals and groups planning to purchase the nomination form on behalf of the president.
According to him, the gesture reflects a renewed political culture where young Nigerians are stepping forward to actively shape the nation’s future rather than waiting for government support.
“With this payment, I want to announce that nobody should bother to bring money to buy forms for President Tinubu again, because the forms have already been procured,” Yilwatda said. “I sincerely thank the Kogi youths for this patriotic and forward-looking action.”
He praised the youths for what he described as a historic initiative, noting that their move marked a clear break from the past when young people often played passive roles in political processes. He added that their decision demonstrated courage, responsibility, and confidence in Tinubu’s leadership.
Yilwatda explained that the youths were motivated by the economic reforms, infrastructure projects, and security improvements recorded under Tinubu’s administration since 2023. He said the group believed the president deserved another term to consolidate ongoing reforms and deliver deeper national transformation.
“This is one of the happiest moments for our party,” he stated. “These young Nigerians are not asking what the government will do for them. Instead, they are asking what they can do for Nigeria by supporting a leader they trust.”
He further revealed that the youths cited improvements in economic indicators, enhanced security in Kogi State, political inclusion, and visible infrastructure development as key reasons behind their decision. According to him, they expressed confidence that Tinubu’s re-election would accelerate national development and strengthen democratic stability.
The APC chairman also commended Governor Ahmed Ododo for his administration’s youth-focused policies, road projects, and empowerment initiatives, describing his leadership as instrumental in inspiring political confidence among young people in the state.
Political analysts say the early purchase of Tinubu’s nomination form signals strong grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election and underscores growing youth involvement in national politics.
