President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja after observing the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations in Lagos, concluding a series of political and diplomatic engagements.
His Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed that the president departed Lagos on Wednesday evening from the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
The trip follows Tinubu’s recent return from a high-profile state visit to the United Kingdom, after which he joined Muslim faithful for Eid prayers at Dodan Barracks.
While in Lagos, the president held meetings with a broad range of stakeholders, including 23 state governors. Among them was Biodun Oyebanji, alongside members of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council and representatives of the European Union.
Vice President Kashim Shettima also met with the president during the visit, briefing him on recent security developments in Borno State.
Several top political figures were present to bid the president farewell at the airport. These included Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, and former governor Olusegun Osoba.
Tinubu’s return to Abuja signals a transition back to official duties after a period marked by international diplomacy and domestic consultations.
