The Christian Association of Nigeria has strongly denounced the deadly attack on residents in Jos, Plateau State, describing the incident as deeply troubling and unacceptable.
In a statement issued by its president, Daniel Okoh, the association expressed outrage over the violence that disrupted Palm Sunday observances in parts of Jos North.
According to the group, the attack turned what should have been a peaceful and reflective day into a moment of tragedy, leaving families devastated and communities shaken.
Reports indicate that armed assailants allegedly entered the affected area disguised in outfits resembling those of security personnel before launching the assault on unsuspecting residents.
The association raised serious concerns about the safety of citizens, questioning how such an incident could occur during a significant religious period without preventive action.
It stressed that repeated incidents of violence across the country have heightened public anxiety, urging authorities to move beyond routine condemnations and take decisive steps.
CAN called for a thorough investigation into the attack, insisting that those responsible must be identified and brought to justice without delay.
The group also warned that the reported use of imitation security uniforms could erode public trust in security agencies if not properly addressed.
While acknowledging efforts by the Plateau State Government, the association emphasized the need for long-term security strategies that guarantee the protection of lives and property.
It further advised citizens, especially worshippers, to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies during gatherings.
Reiterating its stance, the organisation urged national leaders to take urgent action to end the cycle of violence and restore confidence in the country’s security framework.
