Security forces have recorded a major breakthrough in Plateau State after neutralising at least 10 suspected terrorists during coordinated operations across parts of the state.

The operation, carried out under Operation ENDURING PEACE, targeted criminal hideouts in Wase and Kanam Local Government Areas, where troops acted on intelligence reports about armed groups moving through the region.

According to military sources, the troops strategically positioned themselves along a known route used by the suspects. The group, reportedly moving on motorcycles, was intercepted and engaged in a gun battle.

The troops were said to have overpowered the attackers, forcing others to flee into nearby forests after sustaining heavy losses.

In a separate response to a distress call, security operatives also moved swiftly to an area where commuters were reportedly attacked. The assailants withdrew upon the arrival of troops, who then launched a pursuit operation into surrounding areas.

Follow-up search operations led to the recovery of several items believed to belong to the fleeing suspects. These included rifles, ammunition, motorcycles, and fuel supplies suspected to be used for logistics.

Officials said materials recovered from the scene could assist ongoing investigations and help track down those still at large.

Military authorities noted that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to weaken armed groups operating in the region and restore stability to affected communities.

They also assured residents that troops remain on alert and will continue clearance operations to prevent further attacks.
