The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that the minimum cut-off marks for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) admission exercise will be decided on May 11.

According to a statement issued by JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the board’s annual policy meeting on admissions will hold at the Body of Benchers Auditorium in Jabi, Abuja.

The meeting is expected to bring together major stakeholders in Nigeria’s education sector, including vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts, registrars, and admission officers from tertiary institutions across the country.

JAMB said the gathering will determine the minimum acceptable UTME scores for admission into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education for the 2026/2027 academic session.

“The Board’s annual policy meeting on admissions is a crucial annual gathering where stakeholders decide minimum tolerable UTME marks, admission guidelines, and policies for tertiary institutions,” the statement read.

The board added that the Minister of Education, Maruf Alausa, will unveil key policy directions during the meeting.

JAMB also stated that regulatory agencies such as the National Universities Commission, National Board for Technical Education, and National Commission for Colleges of Education, among others, are expected to participate.

The event will also feature the sixth edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards aimed at encouraging compliance with admission guidelines and improving standards in tertiary education.
