Ufia Development Association Constitutes Electoral Committee for September 2026 General Elections

The Executive Committee (EXCO) of the Ufia Development Association (UDA), at its emergency meeting held on June 10, 2026, approved the constitution of an Electoral Committee to oversee the conduct of the Association’s General Elections scheduled for September 2026. The election will mark the end of the tenure of the current National Executive Committee and usher in a new leadership for the apex socio-cultural body of the Ufia people.

The decision to constitute the Electoral Committee was reached following extensive deliberations by the Executive Committee in line with the provisions of the Association’s Constitution. The move underscores the commitment of the UDA leadership to ensuring a transparent, credible, and democratic electoral process.

During the meeting, the National Secretary, Rotr. Innocent Igelle, moved a motion nominating Engr. Mike Ekwata as Chairman of the Electoral Committee. The motion was duly seconded by the Second Vice President, Chief Solomon Ogaragbo, and was unanimously adopted by the Executive Committee.

The approved members of the Electoral Committee are:

1. Engr. Mike Ekwata – Chairman

2. Mr. Omeka Okpeve – Member

3. Dr. Austin Idah Ogaga – Member

4. Mr. Jackson Okeh – Member

5. Hon. Kenneth Igwe – Member

6. Hon. Damian Ujor – Member

The Committee is expected to organize itself, designate other principal officers as may be necessary, and apply the procedures and guidelines enshrined in the Constitution of the Ufia Development Association to conduct free, fair, and credible elections into all offices of the Association.

The Executive Committee calls on all members of the UDA to cooperate with the Electoral Committee and participate actively in the electoral process as the Association continues its collective pursuit of unity, progress, and sustainable development for the Ufia people.
