The Executive Chairman of Ado Local Government, Engr. Sunny Oche, led the Ado Local Government delegation to the 2026 Project Management and Leadership Workshop organised for officials of the 23 Local Government Areas of Benue State.
The three-day capacity-building workshop, jointly organised by the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Benue State Chapter, and Sabi Training and Consulting Limited, brought together Local Government Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, Secretaries, Directors of General Services and Administration (DGSAs), Treasurers, Councillors, Heads of Department and other key stakeholders to enhance leadership, governance and project management skills.
The training was anchored on the Social Good DPro Framework, which promotes leadership and project delivery that improve lives, strengthen communities and advance sustainable development. The framework emphasises initiatives that reduce inequality, promote education, expand access to healthcare, protect human rights, support vulnerable populations and encourage inclusive development through effective public service.
Speaking at the workshop, Engr. Sunny Oche commended the leadership of ALGON for organising what he described as a timely and impactful initiative aimed at strengthening leadership capacity across the local government system. He noted that effective governance requires continuous learning, adaptation to emerging leadership practices and a commitment to excellence in service delivery.
The Chairman encouraged members of the Ado Local Government delegation to put the knowledge and skills acquired during the workshop into practical use, stressing that the true value of training lies in its application to improve performance, accountability and the quality of services delivered to the people.
He further reminded participants that leadership demands empathy, emotional intelligence and responsiveness to the needs and aspirations of the people, urging them to remain committed to policies and programmes that will positively impact lives and accelerate grassroots development.
The workshop, held from June 29 to July 1, 2026, at the Fr. Alia Hall, Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Makurdi, concluded on a high note with the presentation of an Award for Quality Performance to the Executive Chairman of Ado Local Government, Engr. Sunny Oche, in recognition of his outstanding leadership and commitment to good governance. The award was received on his behalf by the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Felix Achadu.
The event ended with a group photograph of participants from Ado Local Government, marking the successful conclusion of a workshop expected to translate into improved service delivery, enhanced institutional capacity and more effective grassroots governance in Ado Local Government.
