Nigerian Fans Clap Back at Gasperini
Nigerian football fans, known for their passionate support, didn’t hold back on social media. Many slammed Gasperini for scapegoating Lookman, urging the forward to leave Atalanta just as Victor Osimhen had faced similar treatment at Napoli.
One fan, Ebun Sola, reminded the coach of Lookman’s impact:
“The team was losing 3-0 before he came on. He scored, terrorized the defense, yet you blame him for a penalty miss? Even legends have missed penalties in finals. Apologize to him!”
Another, Peter Utase, saw it as a sign for Lookman to move on:

Meanwhile, Whyte Okere took a stronger stance, demanding action:
“This is an insult to Africans. Gasperini should be sanctioned for his disgraceful comments.”
