Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes didn’t hold back after his team’s sluggish first half led to a frustrating 2-2 draw against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday, February 22, 2025.

United found themselves trailing 2-0 at halftime after another underwhelming start, leaving manager Ruben Amorim searching for answers. But a second-half surge, led by Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte, salvaged a point for the Red Devils.

Despite the late fightback, Fernandes admitted post-match that United’s biggest issue was their slow start. Speaking to TNT Sports, he said, “We didn’t feel lucky to get a draw. We were upset with how we started the game.”

The Portuguese playmaker emphasized the need for urgency from the opening whistle: “We had our chances in the second half, but we started too late. We gave it away in the first half. We need to start games better.”

He also revealed the team’s halftime discussion: “Every time we concede, we drop, and then we start playing. We need to begin games like that—taking risks and passing forward.”

United’s inconsistency under Amorim remains a growing concern, and while the comeback showed resilience, it’s clear they must fix their first-half struggles if they want to turn draws into wins.
