With just days to go until the Oscars, this year’s nominees gathered in Los Angeles for an intimate dinner, where they were reminded of one golden rule—keep those acceptance speeches short and sweet!

Academy President Janet Yang playfully urged the stars to stick to the 45-second limit, emphasizing that speeches should be “heartfelt, humorous if you’d like, poignant, inspirational, but brief.” While few winners actually follow the strict timing, Yang’s reminder was met with laughter and a resounding “Forty-five!” from nominees like Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, and Ralph Fiennes.

This year’s pre-Oscar gathering took on a more subdued tone. Traditionally a lavish, champagne-fueled luncheon, the event was scaled back due to the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles. Yang highlighted the Academy’s support for those affected, bringing a sense of unity among the nominees.

Despite the toned-down setting, Hollywood’s biggest names still had their moments. Director James Mangold arrived late, causing a last-minute reshoot of the annual class photo, while Demi Moore jokingly regretted not bringing her tiny Chihuahua, Pilaf, who had previously stolen the show at Cannes.

With the Oscars just around the corner, many stars admitted they were eager for the whirlwind awards season to end. “What am I working on next? I’m working on sleeping for a week,” quipped “Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl” director Merlin Crossingham.

Now, all eyes are on Sunday’s ceremony, where Hollywood’s finest will take the stage—hopefully, within the 45-second limit!
