President Bola Tinubu welcomed Nigerian-born Super Bowl champion Moro Ojomo to the State House in Abuja on Friday, celebrating his remarkable journey from Lagos to American football stardom.

Ojomo, a defensive tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles, visited alongside his parents, Ololade and Bimbo, and his sister, Modele. The 23-year-old athlete, who moved to the United States at age seven, returned to Nigeria just weeks after his team’s triumph in Super Bowl LIX, where they defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22.

Speaking on his homecoming, Ojomo credited his Nigerian roots for shaping his resilience and success in the NFL.

“My drive and motivation come from my Nigerian upbringing. This country has played a huge role in my success on the biggest stage,” he said.

He also emphasized the rising influence of Nigerians in American football and the opportunities it creates.

“So many Africans, especially Nigerians, are making waves in American football. The sport is not just a game—it’s a pathway to education, scholarships, and putting Nigeria on the global map.”

Encouraging young Nigerians to pursue their dreams, Ojomo urged them to believe in their potential.

“Nigerians are great. Take advantage of opportunities and never let anyone tell you otherwise,” he said.

His visit serves as an inspiration for aspiring athletes and a reminder of Nigeria’s growing impact on global sports.
