Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has played down concerns over Kylian Mbappe’s recent dip in form, saying it’s natural for a player of his caliber to experience ups and downs throughout a demanding season.

The French forward struggled in recent matches against Atletico Madrid and Real Betis, just days after delivering a stunning hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League.

Speaking ahead of Madrid’s La Liga clash against Rayo Vallecano, Ancelotti acknowledged Mbappe’s inconsistency but emphasized his overall impact.

“What we saw against Atletico wasn’t the same as against City,” Ancelotti admitted. “He scored three goals against City but didn’t score against Atletico. It happens. Players with great quality naturally have fluctuations, but he’s doing very well, and we’re happy with him.”

Despite some off games, Mbappe has been instrumental for Madrid, scoring 28 goals in 41 appearances this season. His four goals in the Champions League play-off against City helped Madrid secure a 6-3 aggregate victory.

Madrid currently sits third in La Liga, trailing leaders Barcelona by three points. Ancelotti assured fans the team is fully prepared for the challenges ahead, dismissing concerns over last week’s defeat to Betis.

“I feel more confident now because we’ve had time to rest and prepare,” he added.
