Former PDP Deputy National Chairman, Chief Bode George, has slammed President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, calling it a blatant violation of the Constitution and an act of reckless political overreach.

“This is absolute Armageddon—total disrespect for constituted authority,” George fumed. “The Constitution has been viciously violated, and we cannot stay silent.”

Questioning Tinubu’s justification for the move, he accused the President of weaponizing security agencies against Governor Sim Fubara. “Tinubu handed Wike soldiers and security agents to destabilize Rivers, yet Fubara remained calm. What exactly did the governor do to deserve this emergency rule?”

Drawing historical parallels, George warned, “This is exactly how the crises of 1962 and 1983 began. The APC wants to take over states through unconstitutional means ahead of 2027.”

He also challenged the legality of the decision: “Did Tinubu even get National Assembly approval? Why didn’t he declare an emergency in Lagos when lawmakers were fighting?”

Ending on a sharp note, George asked, “Is Tinubu now becoming a civilian dictator?”
