Barcelona Extends Stay at Olympic Stadium as Camp Nou Renovations Drag On

Barcelona will continue playing their home matches at the Olympic Stadium for the rest of the season as delays in the Camp Nou renovation push back their long-awaited return.

The club had initially planned to return to their iconic stadium before the end of 2024, but ongoing construction challenges have forced them to extend their stay at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, where they have been based since the 2023/24 season.

On Thursday, Barcelona informed club members that tickets for the remaining La Liga and Champions League fixtures would be available at the temporary venue, signaling that Camp Nou’s reopening will not happen this season.

When the renovated stadium finally reopens—now expected next season—it will have an initial capacity of over 60,000 before expanding to a full 105,000-seat capacity by the summer of 2026.

The ambitious rebuild, which began in June 2023, has faced multiple setbacks, including permit delays and concerns over working conditions, causing a longer-than-expected timeline.
