The Ondo State Police Command has taken a decisive step against kidnapping, arraigning 12 suspected kidnappers in court.
In a statement issued in Akure, the command’s spokesperson, Funmi Odunlami, confirmed the suspects’ identities, including Usman Mohammed, Komolafe Sunday, Olalekan Temitope, and others. Their arrests mark a significant move in tackling insecurity in the state.
Odunlami revealed that the police have intensified proactive security measures, urging residents to provide timely information that could aid crime prevention.
Meanwhile, the command has completed a two-day specialized training for officers on crime mapping, intelligence gathering, and modern policing techniques. The Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi, emphasized that the acquired knowledge would be instrumental in detecting and preventing criminal activities.
In a related effort, Afolabi met with the Fulani community in Owo, urging cooperation in ensuring peace and security. He warned against harboring criminals and stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence between herders and farmers.
Leaders of the Fulani community pledged their support for the police, vowing to provide credible information that could help curb crime in the state.
