In a heartwarming gesture to celebrate academic excellence, Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has awarded Miss Ifebude Benson a N500,000 cheque for being the best overall candidate in the 2023 Senior Secondary Schools Certificate Examination (SSCE) conducted by the National Examination Council (NECO).

The award, presented on Sunday in Akwa by the state’s Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, was a symbol of the Governor’s commitment to fostering academic brilliance among students in Anambra. Ifebude, who was represented by her proud father, Mr. Ben Benson, scored an outstanding A1 in all nine subjects she took in the examination.

Ifebude, from Ndikelionwu in Orumba North Local Government Area, has set a new standard for academic achievement. Her exceptional performance in NECO earned her admission to the prestigious University of Abuja, where she is now pursuing a degree in medicine and Surgery.

Prof. Chuma-Udeh emphasized that the Governor’s gesture is part of a broader initiative to elevate the standard of education in the state, ensuring that Anambra’s children have the tools and opportunities to compete globally. “This award is the Governor’s way of encouraging academic excellence among Anambra pupils and students,” she said, highlighting the state government’s serious investments in education.
